I’ve been using FreeTaxUSA for years. I’m a Pather, and always file before the season opens. Every year my return is accepted before opening day, then I wait until mid-Feb. This year I filed 1/18, and received msg stating it wouldn’t be accepted til 1/29. Are they holding them? Anyone else?

@WhiteWolf: yes. Even if you are accepted early in a test batch, if your refund is subject to the Path Act it will be held until after 2/16.

This is how we think things will work with Path.

President’s Day will play a role with PATH this year.

If it works like other years:

Thursday 2/15 PATH “expires” but we won’t see anything change on transcripts or WMR.

Friday 2/16 transcripts will update with Code 846 Refund Issued for Thursday 2/22.

Saturday 2/17 WMR will update with Direct Deposit Date for Thursday 2/22.

*There are cases where some people may get a direct deposit earlier than 2/22. In the cases where someone meets all of these conditions 1) Paid Fees Up Front 2) Did NOT take a refund advance and 3) uses a NHB (no hold bank), a direct deposit could post to their account 1-4 days earlier. In these cases we anticipate the first date actual money could post is Friday 2/16 in the early afternoon.

@Jemar707. So, despite being part of the test batchiness…Pathers still wait til after 2/15? Kind of a cruel irony. I will eat my feelings until then.

Yall have got it figured out perfectly. EITC and ACTC is subject to Path Act.

Having CTC alone does not make your refund be held.

Filed 1/18, accepted on 1/19. No PATH or anything particularly unusual.

Update: Federal accepted 1/22 with FreeTaxUSA.

I filed on the 19th with FreeTaxUSA. My return was accepted the same day. I receive a CTC, but I don’t receive ACTC nor EIC.

I filed with Freetax USA on 1/16. Accepted on 1/18..I do not have the situation that puts me on the path journey. I have CTC though.
My WMR updated Friday with 1 bar.
