@purple33 I think a lot of it boils down to the fact that injured spouse returns are the irs’s red headed stepchildren and the customer service agents can only do so much without getting chewed out by the actual injured spouse agents working the return. It sucks because I know of times that I called and I could tell the agent wanted to tell me more, but couldn’t kinda like the whispering lady that @buttons16 had who told her what her dd was…
Anonymous@whatthebleep that is a relief. Why can’t the IRS reps explain things… I don’t understand.
I contacted my friend that works for IRShovenstuff guys, he said the alert was for individuals in Boston and its just an extension for those people and nothing else. Injured spouse is still looking at the normal 11 weeks
Holy crap that’s terrible news @tiredofwaiting99. 18-20 weeks?? That’s the first i have heard of any kind of alert on injured spouse returns. That’s pretty disturbing, I hope it’s not true.
AnonymousDay 87, nothing to report. Did get a referral, on day 7 of that. No news of progress
AnonymousMy refund was received by the IRS 2/14/13 and My 11 weeks will be 5/2/13. I called the telephone number 1-800-829-0582 Ext. 362 and was told that my return is still processing and it should complete between the 11-14th week. If I had not received my tax refund by the 14th week to call back. What he did tell me that there is a recent alert for the injured spouse processing, because of the cuts it may now take 18-20 weeks to process injured spouse returns. He checked for me and that alert was not on my return. Has anyone else heard of this? Has anyone received there tax return for IS before the 11th week? I don’t trust the system, last year I got my tax refund (check mailed) and the WMR said it was still being processed.
love to hear from ya!
AnonymousI just spent 45 minutes on hold with a representative who told me our tax return was “still processing”. She then informed me that this was only the 9th week after I told her that tomorrow marks 10 weeks since it was accepted *eyeroll* and that I should call back if I haven’t receieved it in 2 weeks. I guess I’ll call again next Thursday exactly at 11 weeks. I must have been luckier the last year or two because those reps were much more helpful and informative.
Anonymous@billbilly the same thing happened to me. The IRS is everything, but consistent and reliable, oh and polite too. Not polite, at least to me they haven’t been. Keep at it… Don’t lose hope.
Anonymous@irstressing No problem! ;) @katmill I hear ya! I better have the refund by May the 4th! That’s past 11 weeks for me…
I called today and was told it will be four weeks until I get my refund. It is so frustrating to be told something different every time you speak with someone. Honesty is all I ask for. Going to be a riugh month. :(
Anonymous@purple33 TY :)
AnonymousI’m right there with you @purple33 and @brokeandfrustrated. Called again and got a different answer, again. Was told at least no refund date as of yet and to count the 11 weeks from 2/21. So….May 2nd. IDK. So frustrated. My son’s bday is May 4th so we are hoping to have it right before then if nothing else. I know that it will end at some point, I’m just hoping sooner rather than later.
Anonymous@irstressing I know that the first year I mailed in the IS I had to get it via check in the mail, but that was in 2011. If your TA doesn’t answer your call with in one business day I would call the TA Office in your state and find out what is going on. Go to: http://www.irs.gov/uac/Contact-a-Local-Taxpayer-Advocate click on your state and call the number. I hope that helps. Good luck.
AnonymousSo, update, finally recieved a call from the TA, she said she is looking at a DD date of May 17th, assuming everything she does goes smoothly. Unfortunately, with the IRS saying that my husband had back taxes owed, it is making the process take longer, because I had to refile the year in question and prove we should have gotten a joint refund that year. Ugh…
Anonymous@purple33, @brokeandfrustrated, @katmill2369 I with you guys. Watching your posts closely. No ddd as of yet.
Now I have a question. Are you sure that if you filled your IS after filing return, by paper, that you get a check? 1st TA said they would make sure it is dd but new TA still hasn’t returned any calls (last one made yesterday) so I have know idea.
I am trying to be patient, shoot have prayed for patients. MY bday is Friday, maybe it will be a present. lol :)
Anonymous@whatthebleep: No I don’t have a smart phone, so no mobile app. Too poor for a smart phone! :)
@brokeandfrustrated did you check and see if your bank has a mobile app for your phone, you could pull your accounts up pretty quick that way too? Good luck you guys I’m going for a quick run while the sand gnats are at bay, but I’ll be back!
Anonymous@purple33: I will hang in there with ya! I am going to be in major trouble too if this money doesn’t get here by the end of the week. @whatthebleep: Thanks :) I am not really sure when our bank does deposits but I will check a few times during the day, it’s easy to do by phone on an automated system.
Anonymous@brokeandfrustrated and @katmill2369 Hang in there with me. Its got to end sometime… I just hope my TA is right about my time frame for the end of the week or I will be in major trouble. Sigh…. Thanks, @whatthebleep.
When does your bank normally do deposits? I know some people say the IRS deposits any day except Sundays, and at anytime, but I bank with USAA and our money no matter where it’s coming from if its a dd it hits between 6 and 7 am…that being said, if it were me and I had quick access to my checking throughout the day I would still check often, especially considering the TA’s comments. Either way Im just happy you have somebody going to bat for you, maybe give her another 24-48 hours and if nothing happens by friday call her.
Anonymous@whatthebleep: Should I check the bank a few times a day? Not sure what time they do deposits during the day, if they just do them once on several times. I am definitely going to call my TA today to see what is going on. She told me that we would see our refund very soon and that we will be pleased that we have her help, well that remains to be seen.
AnonymousNothing here for me either. No update on WMR and no deposit. Damn. Maybe the TA will call today.
Hey guys sorry you haven’t seen deposits yet..@brokeandfrustrated I don’t think they are required to give you any information once a TA is involved, but I have heard of a few ucky people with TA’s getting info from regular agents it just depends on the agent…what’s the worst they an do, tell you I can’t help call your TA?
AnonymousNo deposit here either. :( I know we just got a TA on Monday, but she really got my hopes up that it would be soon although she didn’t give us a time frame other than she would call us back on May 14th to check on us and that and we should get our refund WAY before then. It’s not looking like it. Will check the bank again later and if nothing is there will call her. Question: can we still call the IRS to check on things even though we have a TA?
AnonymousNo Deposit today. I guess I am calling the advocate and asking what is going on… I will keep everyone posted.
Oh and as far as WMR that’s up in the air..I would call 8008291954 to check the status because WMR doesn’t update at all for some folks, and for some it does..
@billbilly I dunno if you saw it but @j33 responded to you they had a hold or freeze removed from their account and it took about 9 days for them to get a dd, but on another note you filed 2/23 so your 11 weeks will be up in “2-3 weeks” too..so it could be a stall tactic. Who knows? I think you will see something soon, but it wouldn’t hurt to call again today to see if someone can dig a little deeper for a dd… :-)
As I posted above, our return posted complete on 4/18. We were told 2-3 weeks for payment. WMR still says refund was applied to irs debt. Will WMR change to the amount I was given on the 18th before we get our refund? Thanks for any help.
Me too @maximo2 please keep us updated I’m crossing fingers and toes :-)
AnonymousYeah I’m sure theres lots of codes they use that make sense to them, so you may be right @whatthebeep. I’m just hoping4/26 is the truth.
Bahahaha I know @pamela79..don’t judge me lol!
AnonymousThat’s way too much thinking lol
And the reason I subtracted your 21 days is because you paper filed your injured spouse form so you don’t have to wait for the system to generate a dd…I dunno.. I have way too much time on my hands since my hubby is deployed.. :-) I’m sure there are a lot of people this formula makes absolutely no sense for, but when I found it i couldn’t resist comparing the numbers with you all
That’s true but something kinda cool..if you subtract 472-365=107 and then subtract the 21 days for normal processing..107-21=86… And 86 days from jan 30 is 4/26… :-) i know it’s crazy I just like trying to figure this stuff out..not that I ever really will lol
AnonymousJust a note for @purple33 my 3 numbers are 472 and I’m scheduled for check release on Friday 4/26, so my numbers can’t be right with that formula or I’d still be waiting a long time.
AnonymousCan’t wait to hear everyone’s good news in the am!! What I failed to mention in my rant, lol, was that this idiot rep told me that you have to count 21 days for the original return THEN start counting the 11 weeks. That’s how she came up with May 23rd. Really? I’ve been filing IS for 3 years and this is the first I’m hearing of this. I was always under the impression you count 11 weeks from when you got accepted. Anyone else been told this BS?
Anyhow, TA didn’t call today, hopefully tomorrow. Fingers crossed they are just tired of talking to me and will update my status and give me my damn money LOL.Anonymous@whatthebleep LOL! I know right. I have learned a great deal from this. Hopefully everything will work out for all of us next year. I will keep all of ya’ll informed. Fingers crossed. ;)
@purple33 you have been awesome too :-) i hope we all meet here next year but under much better circumstances..like to tell eachother we got our refund back really fast…!!
Ok just saw your last message @purple33 that’s so great!!! Yay!!!
Anonymous@whatthebleep Thank you so much. You have been a great help to me.
Thanks for that info @tmpe01 but, I’m mailing my injured spouse form in next year :-)
Hey @purple33 according to that formula your 447-365=82 which means the normal 21 day
Processing that a normal return would require started yesterday so you should see something soon…if that formula is right :-) I hope it is ..Anonymous@tmpe01 There are quite a few of us who have seen week 11 come and go. Don’t get your heart set on a guarantee that your return will be finished in that time frame. :)
AnonymousOkay…spoke to a lady in Individual Taxpaxer Accounts, she happily pulled up my account (and notes from all my contacts with the IRS) and told me that the IRS received my return on 03/15/2013 and from 11 weeks which is how long Congress mandated and granted the US Dept of Treasury – IRS to actually get their finger out of their butts and do something to process tax returns with special IS forms. So, looks like according to her calcs. 11 wks from 3/15 is 5/31. She advised me due to holiday on 5/27 that to call in on 5/28 and they should have a ERD (expected refund date) for DD. There is no way one person can file their IS form before or after the tax return because they have to have a return to process with. Even if processed and IS is mailed in after, it would subsequently take longer because it goes by the date IRS received IS form. You would need to e-file your return with IS in the first week of Feb in order to expect your refund at end of April. You file in Mar, your screwed, don’t expect your refund until May. Strongly thinking of MFS next year as I did the previous year…only because I also live in CA a community property state and because my husband had an offset with them, and they are broke as a joke, they snagged my entire refund of $239 to pay his debt prior to our marriage. Can’t file IS because it doesn’t exist. They only have Innocent Spouse Relief for divorce/legal separated and if debt was for child support. — that’s my tussle with IRS today.
AnonymousGood news. I will be getting some money back and the process will be complete some time thins week. Thank GOD! Thanks, everyone!
Anonymous@whatthebleep. My numbers on my transcript is 447 as of 04/01. Can you help me figure it out? Thanks!
AnonymousI am so upset. I haven’t heard from the Advocate, even left a msg. I did the math that @whatthebleep did and it’s not comforting at all. I am soo upset. I can’t take much more of this.
AnonymousMy refund is supposed to be deposited tomorrow and it closed on 4/15. If it is there, then 9 days from closed to money in my account.
Anonymous@billbilly You wil probley geta DDD with in a week, it took a total of 9 days for me to get a DDD and DD.
I just spoke with a rep. she said my claim was finished and was posted april 18th and that it would be paid within 2-3 weeks. Will it take that long, or can i expect it sooner. BTW the injured spouse claim was accepted Feb 23rd.
AnonymousWe got the ball rolling on a TA this morning. Was told they would call by Friday. Hoping that they will help. @brokeandfrusterated so glad that you are getting somewhere! I would be money (haha) that ours is just sitting there too. :(
Anonymous@katmill2369: Yes sounds like the rep you talked to has a problem with her math and can’t count. :) Heard from our TA for the first time yesterday and she was nice, said she will get our refund expedited and that our processing has been done for a while, it’s just been sitting there for God knows how long. She said we would probably have our money before she calls us again. We will see, at this point I don’t trust what anyone says…..
AnonymousSo, I just talked to another rep….she was very rude and cranky and told me that I don’t even reach my 11 weeks until May 23rd?! WTF?! We filed 1/30, accepted 2/14 (effing education credits) and have been told by a TA that May 1st was D-day. So…..what is going on?! Every time I call I get a different answer!!! I am so beyond frustrated. If you count from my original file date I’m at 12 weeks, the damn education credits date 10 weeks! I am so irritated I can’t see straight. I understand that we have a debt, so we filed the proper form and all that crap, we waited, patiently for the most part, but it’s OUR MONEY.
How are you guys getting any answers?? I keep calling and just getting bulllsh*t! Ugh, sorry for the vent guys. Stupid IRS.Anonymous@kellis101 Welcome to the waiting game!
I have been keeping up with this thread for weeks now and decided to chime in. I will continue to wait with the rest of you. I filed 3/4,accepted 3/6. Tomorrow will start my 7th week of waiting. WMR says “Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available.” This is my second year filing injured spouse. Last year it took alot longer due to an amended return. This year I am just anxious to get my money. I called the IRS and was basically told that it will take 11 weeks and to call back if I haven’t received anything. Looks like I have 4 more weeks to go. I am hoping for something sooner, we shall see…
AnonymousNo change for me either.
AnonymousGrats on those getting their refunds!
AnonymousNothing here for me. No change on WMR and nada in the bank. Ugh. Congrats to those getting refunds!! Yay!!
AnonymousNo change on WMR this morning and no refund in our bank account, but we were assigned a TA yesterday and she was really nice and said she would get our refund expedited. Fingers crossed and praying hard!
AnonymousStill waiting here. Just checked WMR… no change in status. We are going on our 9th week of waiting. I havent had the desire, or time really with being at work all day, to call the IRS. I’m going to give it until the 11th week and then start calling like crazy if we don’t see anything before then. I’ll also be off on maternity leave then too, so I will be able to call more often.
Our offset is from the VA. Do you think if my husband calls the VA they might be able to give him some information on what has gone on behind the seens with the money?
AnonymousI’ve been mostly lurking but I’m also still here waiting around for our refund. Congrats to all of those who recently got their money! My form was mailed on 03/11 so this is the start of my 7th week. Hoping for good news soon.
Congratulations @8fullinches !
Anonymousfinally got our check today in mail,7 weeks,5 days since they first received IR form in mail, good luck to you all,
AnonymousJust got a phone call from a TA. Very nice lady and she said basically our return is pretty much done and just sitting there, so she is sending over a request to expedite our refund. She didn’t give me a time frame but said that we would probably have our refund very soon. She also told me that she filed an injured spouse form herself and hers was just sitting there too so she knows how we all feel. Anyway, I am very cautiously optimistic. Praying all of us get good news soon.
Thanks @j33 :-)!
AnonymousWhen contacting a congressman, do you contact your State rep. or the US rep?
AnonymousFor anyone who doesn’t follow the Facebook site, here’s the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/272344846175042/
You have to sign up for the group because it’s private however both my wife and I were approved in less then 5 minutes.
Anonymous@whatthebleep Happy for you, finally over! Praying for everyone else to get DDD soon. I was looking on Facebook ant there is several people who are past the 11th week and still waiting. Irs does say o call back and ask to have a referral put on account to try to get it moving faster. But they say it can take up to 30 days for referral. Some also say to keep calling to see if you get a nice representative that will work on your return while you sit on the phone. That is what I did I finally called is department and had a nice representative who unfrozen my refund and I received with in 9 days. Also read that a TA will take your refund to be delayed if your near or past 11 weeks.
AnonymousUnfortunately, it is becoming my experience that the TA is causing it to take longer. My 11 weeks is up next week, and we got a TA because we are being forced to move, and I wanted to try to expedite our return. Now the TA is telling me the earliest to expect anything is May 28th…
Anonymous@Saros: We haven’t been contacted by a TA as of yet and I doubt we will be. I am not going to push the issue either.
Anonymous@brokeandfrustrated Careful with the TA. In a few instances a TA can actually DELAY your return. Just read on Facebook yesterday about a TA who put in an inquiry and when the person called on the progress of the return, they were informed that the funds were ready to be deposited, however they are now frozen until the inquiry is completed.
Also, once a TA takes your case, the IRS agents are no longer required to discuss your case with you, and the majority will not. It’s just my opinion, but I have never seen a case that was accelerated because a TA was involved. I suppose a TA can call them every single day, but I really doubt it speeds up the return.
Anonymous@brokeandfrustrated Call the state congressman’s office. If you don’t have the number google it on line. I have seen that most have helped quite a bit.
@ugh…seriously I have education credits on my return but am waiting on my refund. However on my account transcript it shows it is credited back to my account.
Anonymous@whatthebleep: So happy for you! And thank you for your prayers. I am seriously considering emailing my senator. We are in dire straights financially and simply cannot keep waiting for our refund. The lady at the IRS told me last week that we really can’t expect it until the 11 weeks is up on May 16th but I told her we can’t wait that long which is why she put in a referral for a TA for us. Well the TA has yet to contact us and I am fed up!
Anonymous@whatthebleep So happy you got it! What a relief. No deposit for me and no update on WMR. I’ll check again after work.
Thats good news @maximo2 :-)
