They are told to tell us 120 days but the notice says 60 and the rep I spoke with said that is the more accurate time frame and that if everything is correct, it should be less than 60 days.
Ok y’all, I about gave up. I filed 1/21 accepted 1/23 on 2/16 I checked transcripts cause I’m a pather I got 570 dated for 2/26 and 971 dated for 3/4.
Last week my wmr updated from path msg to being processed.
Received the CP05 notice on my account yesterday and this morning woke up to 846.This whole tax season has a been a nightmare for some of us. It seems to happen mostly to those of us that filed in January or really early February (I filed 1/28 accept 1/29).
No one wants to admit (especially the IRS) that “something” happened on their end with the “NEW IMPROVED” updated software system. I’m not sure who actually is in charge of this million dollar improvement, but the nincompoops that put it in place must never have done any dry run to check it because it sucks.I have NEVER had this kind of trouble with the IRS before.
Nothing on my return has changed in YEARS.
I filed late January like I always do.A couple of weeks ago I logged on to check my transcripts, and the ID verify popped up. So I submitted my driver’s license and all the stuff they asked for. Ever since then I have only gotten an error when I try to log into ID verify (error code 2001).
My under my info Where’s My Refund flips between “Still Processing” to “This information does not match our records” (this has switched twice). Where’s my Refund under my information never suggests that there’s an identity problem.My husband logged into his IRS account a few days ago and had to ID Verify. He submitted everything and then had to complete a video chat. He can now log into his Transcript and there’s nothing at all on anything. When he logs into Where’s My Refund it tells him he still needs to Verify.
This entire process has been a nightmare. I just got a 5071C letter to verify today, but aside from the fact that I already did, and now can’t even get to a page online TO verify, I’m stuck waiting on hold to talk to someone.
Am I the ONLY person who has had this scenario this year?? Please tell me I’m not alone and what I’m supposed to think about all of this.
If ID.me verifies your identity to look at tax records, why can’t the IRS use ID.me to verify your identity instead of sending a letter?
To check my transcripts, I need to use ID.me. Why isn’t the simple act of signing in with ID.me to check transcripts enough to verify one’s identity?
Why do they need a letter if ID.me is supposed to be the super-duper proof?
ok so my husband finally made an id.me account and HE got the notice online. however, it’s just them saying that they need extra time to go over our return and it needs further review. says nothing about id verify, no questions to answer or anything. also give the “it could take 60 days” nonsense to complete the process. so i’m not really sure what i can do at this point other than wait.
If ID.me says verified am I good? I have the 570 and 971 both with different dates and when I called they said I didn’t need to do anything, it was just under review. Ugh!!!
Has anyone got their letter before the date on their transcripts? When I called they said it was just pulled for review. On ID.me it says I’m verified, is that the same verification that the IRS needs?
Just found this site, and thread…what a relief to know that I’m not the only one wondering what in the world is going on this year with returns!

QUESTION: Is it still possible for me to get a 971, or will I most likely go to 846?
I checked my transcript on 2/23 after no change with WMR. I have codes 570 for 2/26 and 971 for 3/4 both have $0.00 and a weekly batcher. On 3/1 I checked WMR and the path notice has disappeared and I now have a message that my refund is being processed. This morning I received the CP05 notice. I claimed EITC and have a small business that I claim. Hoping to get my refund before we go to Disney. I haven’t called but am considering a tax advocate if there is no movement by end of the week.
I am still waiting too. Filed 1/31. Called twice. First time was told I’m in the errors resolution department and I have to wait up to ten weeks. They said I may or may not get a letter. Then second time told they have my return and it is being processed could take up to ten weeks. There is nothing for me to do right now.

Filed 2/1 Accepted 2/1 Married Filing Jointly with 6 children (as we’ve always had).
We had in person verification at IRS office 2 hours away on 2/28. They said they released our return for processing and gave us the generic “9 weeks message but may be sooner.”
Anyone do this same process? If so? When should we expect to update and hopefully see a DDD?
I was accepted 1/29 and have been waiting for this supposed letter ever since. Nothing showing on my transcripts. When i called 13 days ago to try to make an appointment at local office the guy said he “resent” the letter and to wait for that. Its getting absolutely ridiculous. Nothing in informed delivery for today either.

Filed 2/20 and still waiting.
Filed 2/11, accepted 2/12. Moved out of Oregon back in October, so I had to file as a part year resident. As of today, I’m still waiting. Tracker has had me on step 2 for weeks. It’s frustrating.
I called the IRS today. They said they are sending me a notice 3/11… Taxes are being held for 60 days. May 10th would be the release date if they find nothing wrong. They are trying to verify income/tax credits/etc. Filed the same every year except retirement withdrawal. I did make sure to ask if there was any way I would get them before the 60 days and the guy said yes. He said it could come sooner but the 60 days is how long they have to review them. Not getting my hopes up.
Do you call the IRS and give them the 14-digit number? I received the Cp05 notification but no other movement

@amy the 14 digit number under 150 code is your 14digit number to id verify. So it’s the number people are waiting on to come in the mail/letter that take weeks to come
Can someone please explain what you are doing with the number that’s associated with code 150?
@mandie , yes call or do it on line with the 14 digit number under the 150 code . I did it this morning and it works 100% . Also have your 2023 1040 and 2022 1040 . That ask a few questions about them and that’s it .

-transcripts have not yet updated, but historically I’ve been a weekly anyway. will update once my transcripts updateOk, so got my 5071c letter Saturday, 3/2. I filed since 1/29, so hopefully that gives everyone a timeline of expectation. The process itself online took like 2 mins.
Hello everyone I woke up this morning to an email notification saying i had a unread notification on my IRS account it was a message asking me to verify my RETURN FILED then last question was if i have received the id verify letter i answered NO then it said that one was getting mailed out today let’s see ,
FILED 01/17 ACCEPTED NEXT DAY CODE 570 AND 971I have something coming today too!! I can’t wait! It says Austin Texas which others have said that’s where it’s been coming from. Not making any calls until I find out if this is it or not. Mail runs in about 3 hours for me!
No letter, no notice online, nothing. It’s been almost four weeks. I can see the 14 digit number under code 150, which people are saying is the control # so maybe I should just call.
If you have received a dd without a transcript or wmr update please give us folks that are still waiting some hope! What did your wmr look like? Maybe there are some hints that that might happen. I’m grasping at straws here
Not the update I was hoping for everyone to get. Filed 1/28, accepted 1/29. I can for a fact prove nothing is wrong with my taxes. I still believe majority of the issues were due to the 401k withdrawal. Thats the only difference I had this year. My 971 code is dated 3/11/24. Guess thats when my “60 days” will start then…😒
Checked my informed delivery this AM and there IS a letter from IRS. Last time I got a letter from IRS it was a “Thank you for using IDme”, lol. I can only hope this one has my 14 digit code! Not getting my hopes up though.
