Same here received the notice with the 60 day wait time- 971 had a date of 3-11. I did close out a 401k account from my former job.. That has to be the hold up. Claimed no dependents, no credits. This is beyond ridiculous!

I just received an online notice via the IRS account, cp05 and basically it says there reviewing everything and it could take 60 days to issue my refund. Also it said don’t call them until the 60 days has passed. My as of date is still 3/18/24 I did not take anything from my 401k last year.

There are mass transcript updates on Tuesdays and Fridays with WMR updated the following day. My transcript showed no return filed until I saw the 846 refund DDD. I thought the IRS said the WMR would be more descriptive and accurate this year. :rolleyes:

It seems like a common theme for withdrawal from 401K. I filed Jan 29th got accepted Jan 30 and still don’t have my refund and nothing has changed on my transcripts- saying it’s being delayed. I received the letter on March 4th. I think it’s because I took a 401K withdrawal and I did pay taxes on the withdrawal. WHEN WILL they give me my refund it’s been almost 8 weeks

Received my notice online today that they are reviewing my income and credits and it may take 60 days from today and there is nothing I can do on my end.

Only major change this year is I withdrew from my 403b (essentially a 401k) and I am thinking that’s what the hold up is as I did have to pay taxes up front.

Stay optimistic! Nothing about my return changed this year, but we still got chosen to verify the return itself and were told it would be 60 days from the date we verified (2/29.)

Checked my transcripts on Friday and my wage transcript still shows no return filed but my account transcript shows that everything has been resolved with a DDD of 3/13.

The WMR action required about identifying thing went away overnight after we verified in person on 2/28 and did the ID.me video call overnight last night.

Transcripts are still N/A on my wife’s and mine shows 2023 but it is blank.

Checked for update on 2-17. Nothing. N/A on transcript and no return on file. ID me said I needed to verify return. No notices or letters sent. WMR said received and processing.

My As of Date was 2-26, so I called back. They hadn’t even started to process my return because I hadn’t verified I filed one. Supposedly letter sent on 2-12.

I never got the letter, I verified in person on the 26th. Told it could take 9 weeks, but probably sooner.

Two of us in our department at our hospital have the same codes and dates. She didn’t know about transcripts until I was bi+c#ing about it at work and she checked hers.

Strange statistically that 2 people in a VERY small rural town who both work at the hospital in the same department who filed at least 3 weeks apart, got the same codes.

Today I called and she was very nice and said they received the verification and everything looks good and they have to say at least 9 weeks from verification but it could come in earlier, she also stated it will be direct deposit. (previous rep said it was a check) My as of date also changed to 03/18. I feel good in my soul now. It will arrive. Yay!!!!

They told me I need to verify over the phone and I can’t until I get the letter… I already sent the requested documents and she did confirm that.. what’s so wierd is my husband and I file with IP pins every year for prior identity theft… this was supposed to be a preventive…. idk why we would need to do this with the ip pin.

Filed/accepted 2/17. Assuming an added dependent flagged us this year. Not sure when the notification popped up that we needed to verify our 23 return, I happened to notice it some time last week on id.me. Top two n/a & bottom state no return filed w/ as of date of 3/11. WMR for hubby & I state “still processing.” No update of a letter being sent. Why are some peoples WMR “action required” & others only have a notification link on id.me, like us?

I was told they will send me a letter on 03/18/24 (my as of date) for codes 570 and 971. I didn’t pay much attention to what she said, it seems that I knew more about the process than she did. I was right, my transcripts updated less than 12 hours later with 846.

Lessons to learn:
1. the “as of date” is not the date when they will action something in the future or some sort of due date as many of us believe
2. Calling the IRS… be careful with the advice you get. They are more confused than we are. I called IRS yesterday, literally yesterday (03/07/24).
