Wrong Account Number On Return

Okay, I’m an idiot.

I always double check my account numbers when inputing for DDs. I looked over my return very well to make sure I had made no mistakes. However, when I looked at my return and compared the actual account number to my Paypal Prepaid card account number, they didn’t match up. Now even the routing number is different.

So I called a bit ago and was told by a rep at Paypal that the routing number provided could be used anyways, even though it wasn’t showing the same thing in my account. However, the account number was completely incorrect.

I guess I’m just confused, because the account number on my taxes is nothing that I have for a bank or DD info. So my question is…. what happens in this case? I’ve already had the refund sent to SBTG and they sent it to my “bank account”.

I filed on 1/29 and got accepted that same day. My direct deposit date was 1/10, but I figured out i put the wrong account info. I was told that it would take 5 weeks from the DDD. Doing some research I found that it goes to the Santa Barbara Tax Group if you e-file and choose the option of having the fees being taken out of your refund, which is what I chose. I wish somebody would of let me know this earlier because calling the representatives at my bank and at the IRS lead me no where. So, since the Tax Group has my money, they put a hold on my account where I had to verify my identity through a webcam shot of my drivers license. They just approved my verification and have already started the process of sending my check out. I think it would be a week or so from now because it says regular mail. Hope this helps anyone else out there. Ill keep you posted on when i receive my check.

I received notice that a check had been mailed out on the 20th after a long process of verifying my identity. I live in Ohio and still haven’t received it yet. We’ll see. I’ll be sure to update when I do.

Did you receive a check yet? Mine was suppose to be deposited on the 10th. My account numbers were wrong and now I’m waiting on a check…

Thanks @nikki. I just spoke with the bank today and they did confirm that the deposit went to an invalid account. So that’s good news.

So tell me the bad news… How much longer did it take to get your refund check?

I had this happen to Mr last year ..they will send you a paper check they only try to deposit it one time ..

$ksinky is it possible that the account info on the tax forms is the sbtg account set up for them to get the initial DD from IRS?
