what does this mean on my 2021 Return Transcript

On Jan 13,2022 we received a request for verification of non-filing of a tax return.
As of the date of this letter, we have no record of a processed tax return for the tax period listed above.

This happened to me as well. It took 12 days for an “accepted” email from my tax preparer. I thought it was lost. Hang in there!

Do you know your cycle code? It is the same every year. With that, you will know what day to expect movement.

Simply put, they haven’t processed you yet. It doesn’t mean any more than that. When at the transcript page, you see 4 boxes. If either of the top 2 say n/a for 2022, you haven’t been processed. Once the n/a are removed from top 2 boxes, you are ready to check “Account Transcript”.

Anyone getting this message that filed before the 24th check your transcript. It should no longer have that star by 2021 saying request for verification of non file. Looks like they probably did a mass update.

It has never been on my transcripts in prior years. So you are saying it’s on everybody’s?

It means that the IRS is not accepting returns yet and it is going to be a long 2 months for you, if you start worrying about codes now. ha ha
