I keep getting this itching feeling that I might have typed a wrong letter on my ID number when signing and filing my federal return (at the end when they ask for your ID information; number, issue date, expiration). Is this something I should try to amend my return for? So far, my return is accepted. I’m on PATH, and don’t have access to transcripts.

I didn’t claim my brother as a dependent last year I don’t owe anything and neither does he, I already filed for this year can I still amend for last year and claim him? I was planning to do after I got refund so it didn’t mess up my current year

No, that is not even something required when you file..amending it would not do anything but hold you up.

That isn’t required when you file, its an extra step you can choose to do but not necessary. You definitely don’t want to try and amend for this.

It would have been rejected already if that were the case

I would wait to amend if I were you because it takes the irs 20 weeks to process amended tax returns
