      Well well well…

      Heres a little back story:

      Filed TT 2/3 and accepted same day.
      PATH message until 2/15
      After 2/15 generic “being processed” message

      FINALLY called today after logging into my state (Massachusetts) refund tracker last night and seeing an offset to pay Federal from my state return. Apparently I owed from 2012! Why this wasn’t brought to my attention in the past 5 years is beyond me. No letters, nothing.

      I talked to a rep from the IRS and he confirmed that I have not received a DDD because of the offset. He said that as soon as federal takes their share I will update but that it likely wont be for another couple of weeks.

      My question is:

      After federal takes their $$ from my state return does the rest just get DD like it was supposed to? Am I supposed to do something? I’m so confused and irritated. This year has been a total pain in the ass and I’m about to just hang it up and stop trying to track ANYTHING because it seems futile..

      Rant over.

          @carrie

          What state are you filing from and is the child support court ordered and monitored by the DOR? If so then it doesn’t matter if he was only employed for 3 months, he will still be responsible for 52 weeks and will accrue arrears AND interest paid to the state.

          I would call the offset # or a rep to verify that the offset is indeed for past due support and then confirm/track the initial processing information of the injured spouse forms. If you’ve filed the injured spouse paperwork you should be all set. Worst case scenario you’ll have to resubmit.

            Ok so I am freaking out! I filed electronically on 1-29-17 than mailed my injured spouse form to the IRS two days later. I got confirmation of delivery about 3 days after that. I just checked WMR and it said that I had an offset and would receive a letter in the mail within two weeks…so I called the treasury department and it said that the amount of my entire refund was offset!!! The offset was for back child support that my husband owes and he only worked about 3 months out of the year and I worked all year long so there’s no way they should have taken it all! My question is does anybody know why they would say the whole amount was offset?

              My debt is a tax one too and it say no “non tax” offsets. I am so confused, that doesn’t make a bit of sense to me.

                It tells me theres no “non tax” offsets. But… My offset is a tax offset lol

                  Cali (800) 304-3107 right? I called and it didn’t have an offset for either myself or my husband but I’m wondering if that’s because they already took the offset from my state return so now there’s nothing to report? Someone told me that it wont list any federal offsets… Which doesn’t seem right..?

                    Update

                    So I talked to the IRS again today to get a better understanding of my offset situation. They took the money that I owed with my ex already but the hold now is the penalty for having no health insurance for 6 months when I had to leave my employer on LTD due to my sudden onset of crazy health issues. So now once that offset is processed my return will be released! *sigh* at least the woman was pleasant. The timeframe is still the same anywhere from 2-3 weeks.

                    My as of date on my transcript states 3/6/2017 so hopefully since that’s the two mark it will be released by then or on that date.

                      Call the Treasury offset hotline. It will tell you the offset amount and who or what it is for.

                      It also gave me the date of my return(3/1/2017) which I am assuming is the date I get my funds.

                      I Filed on 2/9. WMR is still on the 1st bar w/ 152 code. Nothing else.

                        I just called the IRS again just to make sure there wasn’t any other issues. She said that the offset taken from my MA state return was the only issue coming up in the system and my 2-3 week federal refund SHOULD be processed the 27th… God I hope so. I wont count on it but I will follow up every damn day if need be. So lets pray that we get some updates when WMR rolls over tonight!! :)

                            My cycle code is 20170605. Codes that end in 05 only update weekly which is why I have never seen a wmr change (if any) any day other than friday/saturday morning.

                              Wow…I hate to hear that, but happy that your husband is willing to take on that role. :) that’s awesome. I know all too well about that situation myself. He’s missing out. I pray all works out for you guys and you get processed sooner than later. How can you tell if you are a weekly filer?

                                @erin No no no I hope they take my ex’s child support arrears! lol he’s owed me thousands for years now an its monitored by the department of revenue child support enforcement division here in Massachusetts. Funny thing is that my husband and I are using our return $ to have my oldest legally adopted because her bio father has been absent for about 5 years now. I did call that number you listed which is how I knew I had an offset when I talked to the rep BUT I called he offset # itself and it doesn’t have anything listed for either my husband or myself.. so hopefully its been processed and that’s the only offset against us!

                                I did check wmr this a.m. with no update but I’m a weekly filer so hopefully when it updates Friday into Saturday I get a ddd.. such a hassle!

                                  @Meagan

                                  What phone number did you call? Have tried calling1 (800) 829-0582 ext 652? I hope that’s not the case with the child support situation. If you’ve been filing on your own then it shouldn’t affect you. The only way it should affect you is during the times you guys filed together(if you ever did). Do you have any outstanding student debt?

                                  I know with mines it will take some time because my ex was listed first on ours that’s the only reason it’s going to take me forever to get mine.

                                    @thatgirl I have no change in status whatsoever. Did you have an offset taken from your federal or state? And 2/23 was your ddd?

                                      They will give you the difference. I had a offset this year and the remainder of my funds were deposited on 2/23

                                        So frustrating. I have been staring at my computer screen so long that I have a migraine. I cannot make sense of the E-notice provided to me on my state refund tracker. The amounts don’t add up. I also wonder if MA will take child support from my ex as an offset from his taxes (if he filed!). Hes about 25k in arrears but I’m not sure if, because they’ve been garnishing his wages as of 6 months ago, they’ll take his refund as well. I OBV cant find my CSE login pin or password because this is apparently the new pattern of my current existence. :(

                                          I am in the same boat and was told it will take 2 to 3 weeks from some taxes me and my ex owed from 2014. I was told that if you chose the option for dd, that the rest of the return after the offset will still be dd. I feel your pain. I totally agree that this has been the worse tax year ever. I filed and was accepted on 1/29. But my refund wasn’t posted until 2/20. My two-three week wait starts from there. ***sigh***

                                          I’ll pray that yours comes soon than you think.
