Amended – Code 976

I’m trying to get some clarification on what to expect. I amended my return and finally have some sort of proof of it on my return transcript. Code 976 – duplicate return.

Has anyone gone through this process? Should I look for a letter? Another code? Thanks in advance!

I used the non filers tool to get my stimulus and then I filed taxes for 2019 in Oct 2021. I didn’t receive anything I checked my transcript it had code 152 for the longest. I checked Sept 2022 it have both codes 152 and 976 I called they told me give them 30vdays to receive a letter or refund. I called and got through to them today they told me they amended the return and they ask for another 30 days. The tax advocate said they can’t help, guess I just have to wait and hope I get it.

It looks like the system thinks you filed twice. Did you file the proper form 1040-x? I would call!
